The Bane of My Existence 2

hymnody.jpg
I have a test in Hymnology today at 8am. Yes, this class is as bad as the text title would suggest. It is a class surveying hymnody. Rest assured, these are not the cute, inspiring stories you hear of Johan so-and-so writing “Tis So Sweet” under the harshest of circumstances while curled up in the hull of a ship during an unsurvivable storm. The questions I will be answering today will be more along the lines of, “What was the pattern and metrical structure of the Geneva songs?” My motivation for actually attending this class tomorrow is that I know it will allow me to become a better person graduate.

A Very Special Day 3

Kristin

Today is my fiance’s birthday! Happy birthday love! Whether you know Kristin or not, you should drop by her Myspace and wish her a happy birthday. I spoke with Kristin early this morning to get some “defining moments” in her life to spice up this entry. Defining moments in Kristin’s life include:

February 28, 1988 – Born.

March 13, 2005 – Met me.

Wow! It sounds like you’ve had a great life, dear!

Label Your Breakers 2

Wires

Well, I got shocked hanging a fan. Everything was going fine until I grabbed the red wire. The power should have been cut off, but apparently it wasn’t. The red wire is always hot. It was quite a jolt. After some re-evaluation I got the right breaker off and finished the job. Anyway, moral of the story…Label your breakers.

The Number 23 9

23

Tonight I saw the movie The Number 23 with my friend Drew. In the movie, Jim Carrey plays a man who becomes obsessed with the number 23 after reading a book that his wife gives him for his birthday. (HIs birthday happens to be February 3rd or 2/3) After many eerie parallels Carrey is convinced that the book is based on his life and spins deeper into his obsession the number 23. Everything about his life can be mathematically brought down to the number and eventually leads Carrey on a search for deranged killer. The movie is thrilling and sent me out of the theater feeling a little on edge. I was not looking forward to returning to my extremely empty home. I was doing fine until my mom called on the way home. My cell phone doesn’t get clear service in my house so I stood in the driveway as we finished our conversation. This time spent staring at my house gave me a moment to contemplate the numbers which make up my new address:

Address
4+8+2+9 = 23

As if that wasn’t enough, I decided to go inside and take a few minutes to unwind in front of the TV. So I grabbed a can of my favorite beverage, Dr. Pepper:

Dr. Pepper
How many flavors was that again? 23.

My school ID #: 2387**
My phone #: 233-85**
I need to go to bed. Good night.

Kevin 4

Kevin

Well…Kevin is gone. Many of you will have no idea what this post is about. I am sorry for that. I am sorry that you never knew Kevin and never experienced his presence. For those of you who have met Kevin, you know exactly what I am talking about. You know his spirit, his life. You know his heart. You know how incredibly close to your face he managed to place himself during conversation. Kevin will always be remembered. He will be celebrated in small memoirs such as the one pictured above. I have also set up a “Christianeze only” Myspace account in Kevin’s honor. None of these tributes will make up for our loss. Kevin is gone. He’s not coming back. I can only think of one thing to say. Praise Him. Kevin, you will be missed.
