A “Hand full” Of Things To Do 4

Handful

This week has been crazy busy. I apologize for the lack of blogging since my birthday. I just thought I’d let that one really sink in for a while. Monday was really good. I had a great first “married birthday”. The cake and pizza turned out amazing as reported.

I am going out of town tomorrow. I have a lot to do before I leave, but Kristin and I are really excited about hanging out with some of our Alabama friends. We are heading out tomorrow morning to meet the Alabama crew in Gatlinburg. It should be quite the good time.

Pictured above is the Married Man’s “Palm Organizer“. I don’t know what I’d do without it. It contains all of the tasks I have to complete before heading out for the weekend…I probably won’t do any blogging for the next several days. As for tonight…Office party at Drew’s…I know The Office doesn’t air on Wednesdays, but we are watching the key-plot episodes from seasons 1 and 2 in order to get Kristin up to speed before next Thursday. You stay classy…universe.

21 Years Ago Today… 8

me baby

I was born. That’s right. A little over two decades ago in Palatka, Florida my parents got what they had tried so desperately for twice already. A perfect child. Disappointed with their first two children, my parents decided to test their luck and try one more time to have that “perfect child” they longed for. On March 26, 1986 he I came. Pictured above, I am a newborn weighing in at 7lbs 4oz and 20.5in long.

Today, I will celebrate with Kristin by attempting to make my grandfather’s homemade pizza. This pizza is quite the tradition in our family. My grandfather used to make it for my mother, my mom made it for us, and now I will make or break the whole thing.  Kristin will also try her hand at a Rippy family tradition, the fluffy frosting cake.   More on this later. Wish us luck.

“INTERESTING” FACTS ABOUT 1986:

-January 20 – The first federal Martin Luther King Day, honoring Martin Luther King Jr., is observed.

-January 28STS-51-L: Space Shuttle Challenger disintegrates 73 seconds after launch, killing the crew of 6 astronauts and schoolteacher Christa McAuliffe.

-February 19 – The Soviet Union launches the Mir space station.

-February 27 – The United States Senate allows its debates to be televised on a trial basis.

-March 9United States Navy divers find the largely intact but heavily-damaged crew compartment of the Space Shuttle Challenger; the bodies of all 7 astronauts are still inside.

-April 21Geraldo Rivera opens Al Capone‘s secret vault on The Mystery of Al Capone’s Vault, discovering only a bottle of moonshine.

-September 5Pan Am Flight 73, with 358 people on board, is hijacked at Karachi International Airport by 4 armed men of the Abu Nidal organization, which operates much in the same manner as Al Qaeda.

Transition 4

tran·si·tion[tran-zish-uhn, -sish-] –noun

1. movement, passage, or change from one position, state, stage, subject, concept, etc., to another; change.

Today was my last Sunday at Victory Chruch @ Lakeside Village. I recently accepted a position in Orlando at Church at the Well. I start leading there on
April 8th (Easter)
. Lakeside has been a great experience and I have really enjoyed building relationships with such a great team of people. A lot of great things have come from leading at Lakeside.

When I first went to Lakeside nearly a year ago, our drummer left within two weeks. I made a random phone call to a guy I didn’t really know named Drew. Drew and I hit it off immediately and have since become great friends. We were also in dier need of a bassist. I turned to everyone I knew and got nowhere. So, I jumped on my computer. I hopped on Facebook and did a search for “Sotheastern / Bass”. The first name to come up was Josh Swicegood. I called him that evening, intoduced myself, and asked if he could be there the next morning. He showed up [on time] and has been there every week since.

We have had a lot of great times and I will truly miss our first service trips to Burger King. Well guys, here’s to Will Ferrell quotes, A-WOL, Burger King, and Sunday Pie.

Praise Him,

- Jordan

The Office 2

I love The Office. I always get together with a bunch of friends at Drew’s house for the weekly “Office Party”. However, for the last three weeks The Office has been in reruns. I just checked the web site to find out that this week there is no office at all and next week is an Office Marathon of RE-RUNS! I know what’s going on…Everyone is gearing up for May sweeps. Why is it that the politics of ratings must interfere with actually watching the show. Explanation please? I miss Michael Scott. I really do. All I have to hold me over are amazing quotables from the show:

“Get out of my offive!”

“Who’s long tim?”

“Attention everyone…We are screwed.”

“You just twist this thing until something breaks.”

“I know Michael Scott so well I could write a book about him. Today’s book would be called, ‘Somethings wrong, slash, what did Jan say, the Michael Scott story.’”
