Sweet Tee 9

proof

This Friday, Kristin and I are going on a Book of Hope trip to El Salvador with my dad’s church. I volunteered to take care of some T-Shirts for the trip. I’m a T-Shirt rookie, so I brought in reinforcements. I did some Googling and found a basic (simple) idea that I liked. Then, I contacted a new friend, Jason Burns. Jason is the lead pastor at Access in Lakeland, an amazing graphic designer, and a really nice guy. I’m really happy with the final product. My t-shirt advice is this: go simple.

A Violent Case of the Mondays, “Coming Up!” 8

t t t t t2

Some of you may remember a couple of months ago when I was violently ill for an entire day…I literally threw up like 8 times. Anyway, the mystery illness struck again yesterday. After enjoying a tastetacular bowl of mexican soup, I found myself feeling a bit amiss. So, I took it easy for a while, and next thing I know I’m running to the toilet. Let me refer you once again to my last meal before the spewings…Mexican soup. This is a tasty soup that Kristin’s mom prepares. It includes corn, beef, potatoes, tomatoes, and green beans. You can use your imagination on the delightful things that were projecting themselves from deep within my gullet. Total spewings: 4.5. We won’t get into what constitutes the “.5″ spewing…If you’ve ever experienced it, you just know.

Saxual Harassment 3

logoEach Friday, Southeastern has religion chapel. This service is designed specifically for religion students, and is generally a panel discussion on a particular topic of interest. Today, Dr. Robby Waddell was responsible for religion chapel. He recruited Chris and I to help him produce a Tonight Show like presentation. Dr. Waddell is currently working on a book that will advocate contemporary Biblical translations, such as The Message. More specifically, it explores humor in the Bible and the loss of humor in linguistic translation.

So, today Dr. Waddell played talk show host, Chris was the band leader, and I was the announcer. It went really well. The audience was very responsive to the humor, and the message was clearly communicated. Chris plays sax, so we called his one-man-band “Chris Moore and Sax Appeal”… At one point he was being hassled by a guest and I said, “Hey! That’s saxual harassment!” It was unscripted, but it got a great laugh. I’ll post some pictures as soon as Shea finishes editing them.

“Fall” Tree 10

falltree avert

Southeastern has placed a “Fall Tree” in the center of the new cafeteria. However, this “fall tree” is, in fact, simply a Christmas tree with fall decorations on it. I am 100% opposed to decorating too early for any holiday, especially Christmas. I love Christmas. I cherish Christmas. Growing up my home was a varitable winter wonderland at Christmas time. That said, it is a season to be celebrated in the right time. Now, Southeastern vehemently denies that this is a Christmas tree, maintaining that the fall decorations make it a “fall tree”. Southeastern says fall tree, I say fall treason.

I have chosen to shun this “fall tree” by averting my gaze until mid-November. Mid-November is the appropriate time to appreciate and unveil Christmas decorations, and I refuse to look at the tree until then. I implore you, Southeastern…Avert your gaze.

The Cinnabroom 10

broom

Recently Kristin and I were overwhelmed with the smell of cinnamon in our local Publix. We searched the store over and found the root of the glorious fall odor. It was what I have affectionately named “The Cinnabroom”. It’s a lovely fall decoration infused with a surprisingly strong cinnamon odor. It has filled our whole house with fall joy. Also, we had a friend over last night, and he said that his jeans still smelled of cinnamon the next morning! So, “The Cinnabroom” is not only a lovely air freshener for the home, it can also be used as a personal perfume/cologne.

NOTE: The Cinnabroom may cause an insatiable desire for Red Hots.
