I know nothing about brands of guitar strings, but I do know this:
If Jordan Rippy is playing a stringed instrument, strings will be broken.
Not with D’Addario’s…Two months.
I haven’t broke a string in about a year…honestly.
Strings / lines that will break before I break another Elixir string:
1. a power line
2. a shoe string
3. a wireless connection
4. the string that pulls down my attic steps
5. a line of people waiting to buy tickets to the next big movie.
Crap, I have jinxed myself big-time now….!
ok, lets be honest… a string is a string.
and my maiden name is abbott, hence the abbott thompson, fool.
Here’s the deal, a string is not just a string. Elixers SUCK! and that is no joke.
I used to play Elixers and would break them on the first play, EVERY TIME! without fail.
EXP=greatness. I can handle a little tone lossage if I can actually play through my entire set.
On a side note, I find the name “Misty” to be confusing in general. Reason being, I had a teacher in high school named “Misty Little” but I spent the first month of school calling her “Miss T. Little”. Needless to say I was repeatedly reprimanded and could never figure it out.
So no matter if it’s abbot or L. Or T. or any of the before mentioned, Misty is and shall remain the hardest name. ever.
I don’t think there is even a sacrifice of tone if we’re talking first week or so…Elixir tone just outlasts EXP, but I don’t think it necessarily out performs.
I’ll pretend like a still play guitar and say that John Pierce isn’t a bad string. Wicked scary prof though…
Also, Misty cannot possibly be the hardest name ever, for the simple fact that it is a two syllable name. Everyone knows that three syllable names never roll off the tongue quite right (that’s what she said). Thus, by default, Misty -a two syllable name- beats any three syllable name…
I would put my money on the players and not the strings as far as breaking is concerned. But, everyone has to do what they have to do to sound good. I wish all non-Elixir string users well!

Explain how we can switch strings and the breakage stops? Same players / no breakage. Good “Elixir G String” (don’t forget the “Elixir”)
It’s a fact that Elixir’s are known for making a weak 3rd string.
