Testamints vs. Mentos

I’m introducing a weekly series of posts called Sacred vs. Secular. These posts will be similar to my post about Carmen vs. Rocky. Anyway, today’s Sacred vs. Secular is Testamints vs. Mentos.

mnts

As we all know, Mentos is the fresh maker. But you may not know a lot about the Christian way to freshen…Testamints. Testamints are the Christian answer to bad breath. That’s right. Mentos may be able to refresh your breath, but only Testamints can refresh your Spirit too. With their telling slogan, “Pass the Word”, Testamint wrappers contain Bible verses such as John 3:16 or Jeremiah 29:11. We all know that bad breath is often a result of an equally bad spiritual life…

Now it’s up to you. Use the “comments” section to vote for the Sacred or the Secular. Testamints or Mentos. It’s up to you.

Special thanks to Chris, Jordan Shea, and my lovely wife Kristin for the conversation a couple of months ago that sparked the idea for this series of posts.

Wow I did not realize that I was not refreshing my spirit when I had the choice to. I probably have not had the chance to enjoy a testamint do to my non frequent visiting to such stores as Family Christian. To be honest I always found the Zach Morris look alike on the Mentos commercial to be quite appealing.

i am very excited about this series.
    expect frequent comments.

as for testamints, i am having trouble justifying the expense. if i could freshen my spirit for 89 cents, then maybe we’d be in biz.

for now, i’ll have to continue masking my inner holy-tosis.

    TestaMints:
    More expensive.
    Don’t taste as good.
    further the Christian Bubble Mentality.
illicit rolled eyes from people who are not Christians, and most who are.

I’m gonna end up with Secular as my choice EVERY time… lol.

I’m gonna be honest, I am not the biggest fan of any mint that is not in a chewing-gum form. Therefore my vote will default to the mentos. Anything that will transform a mild-mannered 2 liter bottle of Diet Coke into a screaming rocket of carnage in seconds is pretty gosh-darn impressive to me.

Special props to Beth for the Holy-tosis comment. Wow.

As for Drew, what if next weeks Sacred vs. Secular is Hell vs. Heaven? Will you still go with the secular then? ZING!

I have never tried the TestaMints! If you have any, bring them Saturday and I will let you know my decision! HAHA

Mint Mojhito(sp?) flavored Trident chewing gum. Gum-less mints are a waste in my book.

So I guess I’m in “Purgatory” on this issue…crap!

I just can’t resist those foreign Mentos commercials that are so poorly made you just can’t look away…

…and although I think I like the idea of hiding God’s Word in both your heart AND your small intestine, I think I’d have to agree with most everyone that the testamints are kind-of pretentious.

So, here’s what I propose to the makers of Testamints: A new campaign pushing some of the more unique verses in the Bible:

Revelation 17:16: “The beast and the ten horns will hate the prostitute. They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire.” (NIV)

    …or maybe…

Job 10:10: “Did you not pour me out like milk and curdle me like cheese?”(NIV)

    …or, my personal favorite…

Ezekiel 23:20: “There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys, and whose emission was like that of a horse.”(NIV)

Now, those testamints would sell like hotcakes!

Okay, I know…I need to get a job! That comment was entirely too long and thought-out. I’m sending out resumes, for Pete’s sake! =D

Whitney, you don’t have to do it for Pete; what’s he ever done for you?
