John Tesh vs. Elton John

That’s right, this week’s Sacred vs. Secular is John Tesh vs. Elton John. I hate to put you guys in this position. This will truly be a “lesser of two evils” vote.

tesh elton

On the sacred side we have John Tesh. Singer/songwriter/composer/radio personality. His most recent album “John Tesh: Live at Red Rocks” features tear-jerking re-re-re-re-mixes of Christian classics such as, “Draw me Close”, “Trading my Sorrows”, and “Breathe”. You may be thinking, “Wow, it’s time for Tesh to come out with some new material”, but the Tesh is already one step behind you…This is his new material. That’s right. The way Tesh sees it, why should he have to labor over writing new material when the early nineties nailed the classic tunes mentioned above.

On the secular side we have the rocket man himself, Elton John. Elton is remembered for classics such as, “Candle in the Wind”, “Crockadile Rock”, and “Rocket Man”. The King of Chords brings his own pizazz to any tune with outrageous wardrobe and creepy silly lyrics. Vote it up people.

    Wow. another toughie.

Simultaneous deciding, and proving my non-homophobia, I’m going with Elton John….

Let’s not forget “Circle of Life”, and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.”

And i can’t think of John Tesh without thinking of the lame intro music to Entertainment Tonight… and of this video:

Definitely going to go with the secular on this one. The Rocket Man has way more clout than the ET has-been.

I guess I have a problem considering John Tesh “sacred.” LOL

Okay we can’t even compare Elton John with John Tesh..Elton is a music icon (and one of my favs) and John Tesh is just sad…kinda like a bad SNL skit. Elton all the way!

This is the weakest sacred vs. secular of all-time.

Sir Elton John all the way…

    I’ll go with Elton John…

Rocket Man, Can You Feel The Love Tonight, Circle of Love, Candle in the Wind and Believe demand that he wins.

However, John Tesh can tear up the piano.

Dad’s cousin (Dave) used to have all his instrumental CD’s on the Russia trips. I did make fun of him and all, but I had to concede that Tesh was quite impressive on the keys.

    Also to Tesh’s credit:

He wrote the NBA theme song.

That’s true I had forgot about that one Jordan. However I do believe this will probably be the most one-sided contest that you have.

As a kid I always dreamed of dressing like Elton John, and my mom used to listen to Tesh and drive me nuts playing the same songs over and over. I will have to def. say Elton!

Elton, Soley for “Tiny Dancer” and “Levon”. What classics!

I should not even have to mention the rock opera “pinball wizard” performed with “The Who” (You-tube it. You’ll love it)

Sorry Tesh, Elton John wins this one hands down!

Didn’t Elton John marry a dude???

At first it was an easy “Elton!”

But, my introduction in Christianity, and worship music were those very songs, so I have a bit of a soft spot for Johnny…

But, my love for originality and creativity overrides my guilt… So I pick:

    THE ROCKET MAN!

So let me think about this…

    Elton John
Some of the best music ever written coupled with the worst wardrobe of all time.

    Johnny T
Has a affinity for redoing redone popular worship songs but gives the world interesting and helpful facts to help our daily lives on his radio show.

So my vote is both. If I need some good music I’ll put on the yellow brick road album. If I need help with making a great impression in 7 seconds or need to know what deja vu really is I’m picking the tesh.

Elton John (long, productive, quality career) vs. John Tesh (NBA theme song, some Olympics stuff)

    Advantage: Elton freaking John
