Went over to Tampa today to get some impressions taken for my in-ear monitors. Surprised that the doctor allowed me to video, but he did. Enjoy.

Could you hear anything during the process and did the Dr. try to talk to you during? You know, like the dentist, when he tries to converse with you while your mouth is full of tools.

I could hear a bit in the beginning, but once the material expanded and dried, I couldn’t hear at all. The doctor didn’t try to talk to me though…he just held up five fingers and said, “Be back in five minutes”…That was the extent of communication while I sat in silence.

That’s like the coolest video of someone getting ear molds.

Call me crazy, but for some reason that looks like it would feel really good.

Lance we went to all Shure e5’s with Avioms….No stage monitors at all right now. That room is just not conducive.

Avioms are a lovely little piece of equipment. I know that some instrumentalists would say, “Bah, I would never use that,” but I have found that the individual benefits to each band member far outweigh the advantage of acoustically hearing your own instrument. As a sax player, I completely understand the desire to hear your own raw, un-processed tone, but the ability to mix your own monitors and to change it on whatever whim you may have is incredible!

Incredible indeed. Plus, removing a sound guy from the process is great…No one to try to flag down if you need more or less of something.

Huge advantages IMO. They’ve been a great addition.

I’ll be honest, the first time I saw them and saw that they run on CAT5 I was a bit skeptical. I thought they would sound grainy and dim. I couldn’t have been more wrong!
