An Update

Well – It’s been an exciting twenty-four hours or so. Yesterday Kristin and I drove to Sarasota to meet with our doctors. They told us from the beginning that they would not let her go more than seven days over her due date so we knew that we would be setting a date to induce some time within the next couple of days. They decided we would come back late Wednesday night and they would begin the meds during the night and plan on delivering on Thursday. Before we left we had to do a stress test to make sure that Bella’s movement, heart rate, and fluid levels were ok to wait a couple more days.

We went over to the hospital and they hooked up all the monitors and everything and began to track Isabella’s movement and heart rate. This was our third time doing this so we knew what it generally looked like. Kristin and I were both a bit concerned that she was moving near as much and (to us) her heart rate seemed slower than normal. The nurse came in and confirmed that they were ordering more tests because they weren’t sure whether or not it would be a good idea to wait until Wednesday. Our doctor came over and decided that rather than running more tests they would just admit us and induce labor later in the night.

They officially induced at 12AM Tuesday. After a couple of hours they decided to stop the pitocin drip because Bella seemed to be getting a bit stressed about the contractions.

This morning they decided to kick things up a notch by breaking Kristin’s water, adding some fluid to the placenta, and then restarting the pitocin. Since they did all of that Kristin and Isabella have been progressing really well. Kristin is currently dilated 5cm.

We can’t wait to meet Isabella! Thanks for all of your prayers.
